i tried the azure example stack and it fails during provisioning with: apply failed: example-azure-stack-azure-provider/ of type azure.crossplane.io/v1alpha3, Kind=Provider: cannot get object: no matches for kind "Provider" in version "azure.crossplane.io/v1alpha3"

Hi Christian! good to see you around these parts now too :)
That errors sounds like the Azure Provider hasn't been installed yet. That package contains the provider.azure.crossplane.io CRD, so I think installing https://upbound.io/registry/crossplane/provider-azure would take care of this issue.
Note that dependency management is something we want to invest in soon to avoid this type of issue from happening. Thanks!

jbw976: Hey, but I did add it via the upbound management interface IMHO. From my understanding I wouldn't have been able to get to the deployment otherwise (or at least I would expect that from a guided UI interface ;-) )

Christian hüning: yes good point, we have some checks in there to make sure the Azure Provider is installed first, I wonder what else is going on. Let me see if I can poke around and get some more info on the system in the backend!
edit: Ah, it looks like AWS and GCP both stop what you're doing and make you install their Provider before you can install their sample stack. Azure is the unlucky one where that apparently isn't enforced. I'll open an internal ticket and get this issue fixed soon Christian hüning, thanks for reporting this!

Christian hüning: quick follow up, we have identified and merged a fix for this issue into our development environment and expect that fix to be deployed to production early next week! In the meantime, manually ensuring that the Azure Provider is installed before the Azure Sample stack is the recommended workaround.
